10 Gig-Goer-Approved Shoes to Wear at Your Next Show
If you are ready to upgrade your current concert wardrobe, look no further.
The right shoe can make or break your concert experience. Whether you are queuing for hours, hanging in the nosebleeds, or front and centre in general admission, you will need something not only stylish but also perfect for dancing the night away. We have put together the ultimate list of the top 10 gig-goer-approved shoes for your next show! From versatile sneakers to statement boots and trendy platforms, this list has options far beyond the trusty, but worn-out, Air Force 1s.
New balance 550s
With so many trendy colourways to choose from, my New Balance 550’s are my go-to sneaker for concerts. Known for their orthotic friendly design and comfy insoles, the 550’s bring the perfect balance with their retro sporty look paired with a rubber sole perfect for dancing all night. The variety of colours make it easy to style with any outfit, but my personal favourite must be my baby blues. Whether you are at a gig or a multi-day festival, the New Balance 550’s are incredibly comfortable and provide great ankle support (which we always need!)
Adidas Gazelles (aka Satellite Stompers)
We all know and love them: The Adidas Gazelles! They took their spotlight amongst fangirls’ hearts on Harry Styles’s Love On Tour, where fans lovingly renamed them the Satellite Stompers after seeing them rock out during Satellite. Known for their soft suede look and being Harry’s go-to when jamming out on stage, the Adidas Gazelles are a fan favourite and come in so many different colours to match your perfect fit check. Not only that but, their cushioned and roomier fit proves to be supportive after long hours on your feet. Whilst the Adidas Sambas provide a sporty and snug feel, the Gazelles are built for comfort and style perfect for your next concert.
Doc Martens
They say beauty is pain, but I must ask– why? When it comes to Doc Martens many people have horror stories or absolutely swear by them. Personally, I am one of their biggest fans, hence their place in this list, but only because of some advice I received years ago. The best advice I have received? Get your Docs sized properly! Our resident Doc Martens queen Olivia Rodrigo swears by thick socks to protect her ankles on stage dancing in her chunky platform boots. Docs are not only super cute, but they will also last forever, making them ideal for gigs in any terrain– they are boots after all, and waterproof too! Whether you are stomping through muddy fields at a festival or seeing Matty Healy on the verge of getting cancelled (again), Doc Martens will be there for you. Forever. No joke, these things are made with quality.
Skechers Jammers
As an underrated pick, the Skechers Jammers weaselled their way into my closet after I saw them on TikTok. As someone who pigeonholed Skechers into a shoe for kids and mums, I was pleasantly surprised by the Jammers. True to their name, these shoes are super comfortable for jamming out to your favourite artist in the pit. With their classic supportive Skechers insole and sturdy platforms, you will be stylish and comfy (a recurring theme in this list). I particularly love the white colourway which perfectly captures versatility. Shifting effortlessly from a Sabrina Carpenter chunky boot to a soft and jazzy Laufey, the Jammers can be worn to any concert dressed up the right way.
Nike Court Vision lows
Despite dismissing the Air Force 1s earlier, I still love a classic Nike sneaker. So, I had to put my favourite white sneakers in here, my Nike Court Vision Lows. A much cheaper alternative and coming again in so many different colourways, I know my Court Visions will look good with any outfit. They have a less chunky look to them and yes, I found them for $8 at a thrift store practically brand new. But they are my absolute favourite shoes I have worn to countless gigs before I was afraid to step out of my comfort zone.
Mary Janes
Now, as you might have noticed, I am a sneaker girly through and through. But I know this list needs to be versatile and thus I have added the comfiest “heels” I have found which are my chunky Mary Janes from Amazon. Comfortable and affordable, I have truly found my inner vintage with these shoes. They are a timeless staple with their sophisticated charm, and extra oomph if you get the platformed version. Their round toes and elegant straps are to die for. They make the cutest, most demure outfits but could also be paired with some fishnets for that rock vibe. Mary Janes bring a touch of classic vintage to a fangirl’s poppy modern look!
Converse – Platform Chuck Taylors
Another classic, the Chuck Taylor’s have been a staple concert shoe for decades, thanks to their ability to compliment any outfit. As someone who needs as much support as they can get, the Platform Chuck Taylors have always been the preferred choice due to their added cushioning in the sole compared to the regular Chuck Taylors. They not only provide comfort but also come in a variety of colours while maintaining that iconic Converse silhouette. These shoes are ideal for any concert, combining style and practicality. For all of you rockstars looking to add a bit of edge, you can level up with the chunky platform Chuck’s to give your look an extra oomph.
Ugg ankle boots
For the fangirls braving feet of snow, I have not forgotten about you! As a Toronto girlie myself, these Canadian winters are no joke. To stay warm in chilly venues, I have found Ugg Ankle Boots to be both comfy and stylish for the Fall and Winter months. Paired with some cute leg warmers, these boots can easily be dressed up or down depending on the concert vibe. With ultra-soft lining, they will keep you warm and cosy all night long. My local venue even converts its hockey rink into a concert space– super cool but also super cold! Uggs are my go-to for warmth, making them fitting for any fall or winter gig.
Cowboy boots
Cowboy boots were not always on my radar for concerts, but after seeing a friend rock them at a gig, I had to ask where she got them! Now, they have become one of my go-to choices for gigs, especially at country concerts or festivals. With their classic Western design, they add just the right amount of flair, whether you are pairing them with denim or a flowy dress. Plus, they are surprisingly comfortable, sturdy enough to handle hours of dancing and jamming to Zach Bryan.
Puma Palermos
Going to a venue that doubles as a football field? Then look no further than the Puma Palermos. These cute suede sneakers are originally inspired by retro football trainers which feature a sleek low-cut silhouette and a soft suede upper making them both stylish and practical. With their cushioned sole, you will stay comfortable dancing and queuing for hours at a gig. Want to channel your inner Travis Kelce? These shoes have that sporty, effortless cool look, adding a touch of athleticism to your outfit. Whether you are going for a casual look or something bolder, the Puma Palermos bring a blend of old school charm and modern comfort.
No matter what kicks you rock at your next concert, the key is finding something that combines style with comfort. From sneakers to boots, there is a pair out there for every vibe and venue. Lastly, as if I have not said it enough– have good insoles! A nice, cushioned heel can make or break your concert experience and will save you from dreading the morning post-concert. So, step out in style, stay comfortable and find something you feel absolutely confident in to dance the night away.
