Following his staggered return to music, Shawn Mendes has unveiled a brand-new concert film, Shawn Mendes: For Friends and Family Only.

Hitting screens for one night only, the concert film showcases Mendes’ highly anticipated self-titled album, Shawn, which will be performed live in its entirety for the first time.

Filmed at the historic Bearsville Theater in Woodstock, New York, earlier this year, the new concert film goes beyond a typical performance. Along with live renditions of his newest releases, Mendes shares personal stories and insights into the creative process behind each track, offering fans an intimate glimpse into the inspiration that fueled the album.

The Woodstock show marked the beginning of a special series of intimate performances by Shawn Mendes, hitting up cities tied closely to the creation of his new album. Over two years, Mendes recorded Shawn in various iconic locations across the globe, and this concert series is set to serve as both a tribute to those cities and a personal thank you to the fans in each.

The album, which was originally scheduled for release on October 18, has now been pushed to November 15. Speaking about the announcement on social media, the Stitches singer wrote, “My team and I have decided to push the album release date to November 15th. We just need a little bit more time to bring some new inspiration and ideas to life. I love you guys thank you for being so patient, I can’t wait to see you guys at the next few shows.”

However, the announcement of Shawn Mendes: For Friends and Family Only brings a new level of anticipation for fans.

“Performing this album for the first time in such an intimate setting, surrounded by close friends, family, and the people who helped bring it to life, was truly special. I’m excited for fans around the world to feel that same connection through the film and get to experience the Friends & Family shows before the album release,” said Mendes.

A full list of showing theatres is expected to be announced in the coming weeks, with fans encouraged to request a screening in their city on the official film website. Tickets will go on sale on 24 October at 10:00 ET.
