Best Rising Indie Artists: 10 Indie Musicians You Need to Hear ASAP

Is your playlist feeling a bit dry? Are you sick of Spotify recommending the same songs over and over? Are you looking for music to make your friends say, “Wait, who is this?”. If you answered yes to any of those questions, you are in the right place. We have put together a list of our top 10 rising artists to help you spice up your music life.

10. Pool Girl

Coming in at number ten is Pool Girl. A true up and comer with only three released tracks to date, Pool Girl is certain to leave you wanting more. The California native’s soft yet evoking voice is reminiscent of the likes of Suki Waterhouse and her songs remind us of what it feels like to fall in love for the first time.

Recommended Track: Seeing You

9. Pacific Avenue

At number nine, we have Pacific Avenue. If you want to feel like it is summertime all year long, there is nothing better than a funky, beachy, rock song. And for that, Pacific Avenue has got you covered. The band’s soft surfer rock transports us right to the beaches of the Aussie coast that they call home.

Recommended Track – Something Good

8. Secondhand Sound

Number eight is Secondhand Sound, whose social media claims that they “Will Be The Biggest Band in Your World.” And if you are looking for a new indie boy band to love, maybe that is true! Their songs are perfect to sing in your car or shower. The band recently released a new tune and is teasing more on the way, so if you start with Car Sex and like what you hear, now is the perfect time to give the rest of their discography a go.

Recommended Track – Car Sex

7. All Things Blue

All Things Blue is taking our seventh spot for giving us all things dreamy punk. The band, led by India Coombs, released the album Get Bit back in 2020 with 10 full length tracks that will take you on a journey through a psychedelic dreamscape. Sleep Through, their most recent release with collaborators Mini Trees, strays a bit from this sound with a grungy guitar overlaying the track.

Recommended Track – Dicking Around

6. Trudy and the Romance

Sitting at number six is Trudy and the Romance. Despite some of the music being released as recently as August, Trudy and The Romance’s sound take us back to the 1950’s and packs a punch of nostalgia for an era that most of us were not even alive to see. With one full-length album and numerous EP’s, there is plenty to explore to make you fall in love with Trudy like we have.

Recommended Track: American Rain

5. Sports Team

If you stop a 20-year-old male with a mullet and wearing jorts to ask him who his favourite band is, there is a high chance he will say Sports Team. And with tracks like Here’s The Thing, Fishing, and I’m In Love (Subaru), who can blame him? Listening to Sports Team feels like being spoon-fed playful chaos. If you are in the UK, they have an upcoming tour later this Autumn that you will not want to miss. Having seen them a few times myself, I can promise you a haywire frontman, a nonchalant keyboardist, and a rambunctious crowd. This energy is what has placed them at number five on our list.

Recommended Track – Cool It Kid

4. Savannah Conley

Have you ever described yourself as someone who yearns? If so, our number four, Savannah Conley, is your new best friend. Whether the song was designed to make you cry or make you dance, the Nashville singer’s hauntingly beautiful voice is guaranteed to provide the perfect soundtrack to your main character moments.

Recommended Track – Never Want to Be in Love

3. Turnover

Number three is Turnover. Earlier this year Turnover released a deluxe version of their fourth studio album, Myself in the Way. Despite the band being at it for over a decade, this album was their most ambitious as it blended ambience and shoegaze. I recommend starting with Dizzy on the Comedown, an entrancing song from their sophomore album Peripheral Vision. From there, there’s over 10 years’ worth of tunes to fall in love with.

Recommended Track – Dizzy on the Comedown

2. Porches

Porches, fronted by Aaron Maines, has been making a name for themselves with their new Synth-pop album, Shirt. The album has 12 angst filled tracks that will chew you up and spit you right back out. And the best part is that if you love them as much as we do, the band is currently touring the UK and US.

Recommended Track: Sally

1. Jany Green

To put it simply our number one, Jany Green, is a must-hear. Pigeonholing him into one singular genre would be minimising how the singer treats the genres as nothing more than rules to be broken. Whether you are looking for something funky or trying to soundtrack a sad day, Jany Green has something for everyone. While it has been about a year since the singer has released anything new, his socials have slowly become more active, and we are eagerly awaiting announcements for new music.

Recommended Track: Nicotine
