Olivia Rodrigo’s Sour Is The Most Streamed Album by Any Female Artist on Spotify

Step aside Taylor, Olivia has come for your crown!

Olivia Rodrigo’s debut album, Sour, continues to break records three years after its initial release. The album that featured Rordigo’s hits, Drivers License and Good 4 U hit streaming services back in 2021 and went on to set the record for the most-streamed album in a week by a female artist on Spotify, amassing over 385 million global streams.

Recently, Geffen Records, the label behind the hit release, confirmed that Sour has become the highest-streaming album by a female artist on Spotify of all time, with over 12.3 billion streams to date.

Rodrigo’s debut single from Sour, Drivers License, became one of the biggest hits of 2021. It achieved 76 million US streams in its first week and debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, where it stayed for eight consecutive weeks. The song also recorded the largest global weekly streaming debut on Spotify and was the first track in 2021 to surpass 1 billion global streams.

Additionally, all eleven tracks from Sour landed in the Top 30 of the US Hot 100, making Rodrigo the first female artist and the fourth act overall to chart 11 or more songs in the Top 30 simultaneously.

Speaking on the news at her recent show in London, Olivia commented, “I found out the other day that Sour is the most streamed album by a female artist on Spotify. And that is literally all because of you. I cannot thank you guys enough. I made Sour in my bedroom and my producer’s garage and I had no expectations of anyone other than my mom and my closest friends listening to it. But as it turns out, lots of people related to the feelings that I was talking about on that album.”
