As The 1975 kick off the European leg of Still… At Their Very Best on 8 February, we all want to dress to impress. Although Matty Healy can be quite controversial himself, there is no denying that At Their Very Best got everyone talking through TikTok throughout 2023, and the band are indeed still, At Their Very Best. If you were lucky enough to get tickets and don’t quite know the lore of a 75’s show, this is your guide to know what to wear for your upcoming tour date.

Think 2014 Tumblr
If you’re old enough to have been around for the slightly startling days of Tumblr back in the early 2010’s, then you’ll remember the hold that fishnets, striped t-shirts, Dr. Martens and an oversized denim jacket had on us. If you want to go casual, then it’s time to dig out those relics hiding in the back of your wardrobe and channel that energy again.
If you’ve been here since the self-titled era (hello, it’s been a ride!) you will know that black skinny jeans and boots were a go-to. Now, we might have moved away from the skinny jeans chokehold that 2013 had us in, but Dr. Martens are a classic staple that you still can’t go wrong in. Start with those, and the rest is up to you. Whether they’re platform loafers, the traditional quads or the brogue style rising through the TikTok ranks right now, wearing your Docs is a must!
Band Merch
An obvious one here, but of course, you can wear a 75’s t-shirt. On the first leg of the tour, the crowd was full of fans wearing ‘I hate Matty Healy’ or ‘lol ur not Matty Healy’ tees which later became official merch you could actually buy at the stands. They even rereleased self-title merch for the first time in several years to celebrate ten years of the iconic album that brought us cult classics like Sex, Girls and Chocolate.
Alternatively, the shirt from the Robbers music video is making its rounds again. You’ve probably seen a few videos with Matty wearing it himself on stage after fans have thrown it up for him during the set.
The New Lore
At first glance, it may seem like just a simple ensemble – a classic white shirt, an all-black tie, and a well-fitted jacket. However, this seemingly ordinary outfit has taken on a unique flair, thanks to Matty’s influence. Since he started the shows last year wearing a full suit moment, it quickly caught on with fans beginning to put their own spin on the uncharacteristically Matty look. The new cool-girl style involves a half-done-up shirt, a nonchalantly tied tie, and a straightforward pair of tights – a combination that has become the epitome of contemporary chic.
Not feeling the feminine look? Swap the skirt for trousers and you’re good to go!
All Black
If you’re still unsure about what to wear, black is the easiest go-to! And this isn’t just for The 1975 – all black is a classic staple that would work for almost any show. Perhaps an oversized leather jacket or blazer, paired with a black skirt and tights, and shoes of your choice.
But Remember…
This is only a guide! So, go ahead and wear what makes you feel good, whether it’s a vintage The 1975 band tee, funky accessories, or your most comfortable pair of sneakers. Whether you’re dressed to the nines or keeping it effortlessly casual, The 1975 don’t disappoint when it comes to live shows and regardless of what you wear, they’re going to put on a cracking performance.
