A New Social Platform For Superfans Is Coming – Here’s What You Need To Know

A new social media platform designed specifically for music superfans has been announced, with its creators promising a more tailored and community-driven experience.

The app, called Chalant, has been founded by Krista Doyle, a long-time member of the Taylor Swift fandom and former host of the Holy Swift podcast. Doyle said her experiences navigating various fan communities inspired her to develop a platform where fans could gather in one place rather than across multiple apps.

“I started noticing how fragmented the fan experience was. News lived on Twitter. The best essays were hidden on Tumblr. Live streams happened on TikTok. Merch drops were on Etsy. Tour meetups happened in rogue group chats,” Krista said in her announcement of the project. “For years, Swifties (and fans of *every* artist) have been doing the MOST to find each other, share things, and build their own little fandom corners of the internet.”

“I realised that there was a bigger opportunity here. I found myself asking: what if there was a better space built just for music fans? A place where fandom wasn’t an afterthought, but the whole point?”

Fans of major artists often connect through a patchwork of different platforms, including X (formerly Twitter), TikTok, Tumblr, and Etsy. Chalant hopes to centralise those activities, creating what it describes as “the ultimate fan hub.”

The app is currently in its pre-launch phase, with a waitlist open at chalant.net. Early users are expected to help shape the community before a wider rollout. Although the initial focus is on music, the team behind the platform says there are plans to expand into broader areas of pop culture in the future.

The launch comes at a time when traditional social media companies face growing criticism over fragmented communities, algorithmic timelines, and limited options for niche groups.
