Vinyl collectors and music fans have plenty to look forward to this Record Store Day, with a lineup of exclusive pressings featuring some of the biggest names in music. Returning to independent stores across the world for its 18th annual celebration on Saturday 12 April, 2025.
Since its inception in 2007, Record Store Day has grown into a global phenomenon marked by exclusive vinyl and CD releases, in-store performances, and special promotions, creating a unique experience for music fans of all ages.
Among the most highly sought-after 2025 releases is a special edition from Oasis, arriving just in time for their much-anticipated live reunion shows this summer. The band’s greatest hits compilation, Time Flies… (1994-2009), will be available on vinyl for the first time, complete with remastered audio and brand-new packaging.
Taylor Swift fans will also have reason to celebrate, as her Grammy-nominated UK Number 1 single Fortnight featuring Post Malone is set to be released as an exclusive 7” vinyl. The record will also feature the Fortnight (Blond:ish Remix), marking the first time this version will be available on vinyl.
Another pop Queen set for RSD success is Charli XCX, with the first-ever standalone vinyl release of her Number 1 Angel mixtape. Previously only available as part of a double vinyl pressing with Pop 2, this marks a major moment for fans of her early work. In addition, Charli’s latest UK Number 1 single Guess, featuring Billie Eilish, will also get an individual vinyl release.
The celebration continues with exclusive releases from other major artists. Fred again.. will release all three of his Actual Life Piano Sessions EPs on vinyl for the first time, while Megan Thee Stallion’s Traumazine will get a special double LP treatment. Sugababes are also set to celebrate 20 years of their chart-dominating album, Taller In More Ways with a limited-edition pressing.
This year, two huge artists have also seen recognition through new roles as Record Store Day Ambassadors. In the UK, Sam Fender takes up the title with the offering of a limited edition pressing of Me and The Dog EP, whilst for US vinyl afficionadors, Post Malone steps up to the plate.
Speaking on the accolate, he said, “What an honor, I can’t believe I was chosen to be Record Store Day’s Ambassador for 2025. Record Store Day is so important and I really hope to do my part to keep it alive. We love hitting local shops when we’re on the road, seeing all the crazy artwork, the whole energy in a record store is just super inspiring. I feel at home. It’s really an unexplainable feeling to hit up a shop and dig through crates, just see what grabs your eye. You can be looking for something super specific and end up finding something totally different… Keep supporting y’all and let’s keep records and these local shops going strong. “
In 2024, it was reported by the Digital Entertainment and Retail Association (ERA) that independent record shops in the UK were experiencing a renaissance, reaching a 10-year high. With this string of iressistable new releases as part of Record Store Day 2025, this trajectory is set to continue.
