You read that right: Kesha, the artist who has captivated fans for multiple generations, is back and better than ever with her new album simply titled . (We’ll refer to it as Period, for ease). It is her first record since creating her own independent label, Kesha Records, and leaving behind the restraints of past labels.

Kesha’s rise to fame began in 2009, when she was featured on Flo Rida’s song, Right Round. Since then she has released five albums under her contract with her past label. From legal disputes to performing at major music awards shows, Kesha has gone through the highs and lows of being an artist and person.

Period is a fresh start for Kesha, and this sixth album of hers includes 11 wild yet moving songs. Each track brings a different feeling or production style to life. The first song, FREEDOM., starts out with a chilling siren-like intro inspired by Kesha’s last record. It then morphs into an untamed aesthetic that is carried throughout the album.

Next up is JOYRIDE., which was released as the lead single for the album in July 2024. It’s reflective of Kesha’s old musical style of the 2010s, with an exhilarating beat and lively lyrics such as, “Fell from heaven, no, it didn’t hurt / Bee-beep, best night your life / Get in, loser, for the joyride.” YIPPEE-KI-YAY. was the third single released and is also the third track on the album. It combines a cowgirl-pop style with lyrics about a vibrant lifestyle, alluding to growing up in Nashville, Tennessee: “Look around, the only ten I see / Is this barefoot baddie from Tennessee / Gonna two-step stomp down a cowboy’s street.”

The next track, DELUSIONAL., another single, draws attention to different perspectives of what it means to be delusional. She explores the idea of friends or partners having unreasonable expectations, as well as how artists are expected to create art even when they are undervalued. Kesha highlights her confidence and worth throughout this song exclaiming, “Look at me shinin’, my stars alignin’ / You thought you’d bring me down / Baby, you’re delusional.” As the first new song of the album, RED FLAG., allows the fans to feel uplifted by knowing that one of their favourite singers has also had many crazy dating stories. On the surface, the song highlights Kesha’s attraction to men labelled “red flags,” but it could also show how she chases other things or dreams that seem risky.

The sixth track, LOVE FOREVER., can be considered a joyful love song. It’s about what Kesha hopes for in the future from a lover and a confession of her wishes as she sings, “Now I’ve got nothin’ to lose / To tell you the truth / I want a love that lasts forever.” It is followed up by THE ONE., a moving song that feels like a breath of air and self-love: “And now I know that it can’t be broken / I finally found the love (I found the love) / Baby, I’m the one.” The bridge shows off Kesha’s carefree spirit and strength, trusting herself.

BOY CRAZY. has a hyperpop style that shines on this record, as a party anthem and unhinged song about attraction. Fans who loved Kesha’s club songs from the 2010s are sure to obsess over this lustful and electric track. GLOW. is the ninth song on the album and is about self-care and spoiling yourself as a form of compassion and healing. If you’re looking for a song to strut down the sidewalk in the sunshine, then this is perfect for you.

TOO HARD. highlights how hard it can be to transform love into hatred, even after heartbreak. It recognizes the pain that someone else could be going through and how feeling pity doesn’t mean that you should lose your own joy: “You just take and takе / Because you’re empty inside / No wonder all my love was not enough / To heal the sadness you hide.” The last (but not least) track on the record is CATHEDRAL., which utilizes religious references to signify the rebirth of Kesha and her journey. This emotional song feels like a warm hug about facing obstacles and finding light in the darkness as she confesses, “Who I once was, she seemed so far / I’ve had to sacrifice her from the start / I’m born again with every scar / Maybe it’s all written into the stars.”

Period isn’t just a fun record to play at the club, it touches on heartbreak, self-love, and freedom. Kesha didn’t just create an album to listen to once and ignore. It’s meant to be processed over time, with new feelings felt or ideas created with each listen. You can now hear this album (and more) live on tour – The T*Ts Out Tour began on 1 July 2025 in Utah, US, and will continue until 21 March 2026 in Dublin, IE. As her first album as an independent artist, Period shows just how free-spirited Kesha can be while still bringing light to emotions and experiences that we all can relate to in some way.
