Only The Poets are back with their most cinematic single yet, You Hate That I’m In Love.

A shimmering rush of synths, eighties-inspired guitars, and heartbreak, the track captures the fever-dream sensation of falling apart in real-time – think late-night confessions, stadium-sized hooks, hyper-emotional lyrics, and a dizzying sense of drama.

Premiered during the band’s sold-out show in Stuttgart, You Hate That I’m In Love has already become a fan favourite on the road. Co-written by frontman Tommy Longhurst alongside Danny Casio and JANEVA, the song feels like a dancefloor anthem awash in neon lights and tears.

Speaking about the track, Tommy says, “It’s strange being the one that leaves when you’ve only ever known what it’s like to be left. I wrote this in the mess of that — guilt, freedom, confusion. You think it’s easier on this side, but it’s not. Breakups are rarely the same on both sides. Someone always moves on, someone stays bitter. This time I was the former… it was way more confusing to navigate emotionally than I’d ever expected.”

You Hate That I’m In Love follows the rousing success of I Keep On Messing It Up – a recent Radio 1 Tune of the Week – and marks a defining moment in what’s already shaping up to be a whirlwind 2025 for Only The Poets.

With sold-out shows in London, New York, Los Angeles, and across Europe, a new label partnership with Capitol UK and Republic Records, and a growing buzz around new music, the band’s momentum is undeniable.
