The Beatles are Coming to the Silver Screen in a New Four-Part Biopic Series

Sony Pictures Entertainment, acclaimed filmmaker Sam Mendes, and Neal Street Productions have announced four interconnected theatrical feature films, each told from the perspective of a different member of The Beatles.
This marks the first time that Apple Corps Ltd. – along with Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, and the families of John Lennon and George Harrison – has granted full authorisation for the band’s life stories and music to be used in a scripted cinematic narrative.
As envisioned by Mendes, the films will each delve into the unique journey of John, Paul, George, and Ringo, ultimately converging to present a sweeping portrait of the most influential band in music history.
While specific release dates remain under wraps, the studio promises an “innovative and groundbreaking” rollout strategy.
“I’m honoured to be telling the story of the greatest rock band of all time, and excited to challenge the notion of what constitutes a trip to the movies,” said Mendes. He will direct all four films and produce them alongside Pippa Harris and Julie Pastor of Neal Street Productions. Jeff Jones will serve as executive producer for Apple Corps Ltd.
Pippa Harris described the project as “a uniquely thrilling and epic cinematic experience,” adding, “To have The Beatles’ and Apple Corps’ blessing to do this is an immense privilege.” She also praised Sony Pictures for its unwavering support: “From our first meeting with Tom Rothman and Elizabeth Gabler, it was clear they shared our passion and ambition for this project.”
Apple Corps CEO Jeff Jones echoed the enthusiasm, saying, “Apple Corps is delighted to collaborate with Sam, Pippa and Julie to explore each Beatle’s unique story and to bring them together in a suitably captivating and innovative way.”
Sony Pictures Motion Picture Group Chairman and CEO Tom Rothman added a nod to the band’s legacy with a Beatles-inspired quote: “I know I speak for our CEO Tony Vinciquerra, who was instrumental in making this happen, and every Sony Pictures Motion Picture Group colleague around the world when I say: ‘yeah, yeah, yeah!’”
Rothman described the films as a “culturally seismic” theatrical event, noting, “Sam’s daring, large-scale idea is that and then some. Pairing his premiere filmmaking team with the music and stories of four young men who changed the world will rock audiences all over the globe.”
Sony Pictures will fully finance and distribute the films globally, with theatrical releases slated for 2027.
