10 Louis Tomlinson Lyrics for Your Next Instagram Caption

Have you ever struggled writing a caption for a post? Like you don’t know what to say? Sometimes, lyrics are the easiest go-to for a caption.

Louis Tomlinson’s songwriting ability is severely underrated, but shouldn’t go unnoticed.

If you’re a Directioner who loves songs like “No Control,” “Story of My Life,” “Diana,” “Love You Goodbye,” and “History,” then you may be a fan of Louis and his songwriting. If you’re not familiar with his solo work? Then you need to hop on your streaming platform of choice and begin listening to his discography in full. Starting with his second album, Faith in the Future, then his debut album, Walls, and then his most recent album, How Did I Get Here.

So whether you’re a fan of Louis or not, here are a handful of lyrics from songs that could work as your next Instagram caption, based on a variety of life events.

“You know when I’m with you I’m so much happier.”

Silver Tongues

As one of my favourite songs from his second album, Faith in the Future, Silver Tongues is all about being with that person who completely understands you, despite what the rest of the world says. It reminds me of Taylor Swift’s song Ours. Pair this lyric with a post about either your romantic partner or a close friend group! This person is your ride-or-die, the person who makes you happy and lights up like a thousand suns.

Perfect for: An anniversary with a romantic partner or dinner out with your ride-or-die friend group.

“The sun goes down and it comes back up, the world it turns no matter what.”

 Just Hold On

If you’ve been struggling with your mental health lately, and feel like there is no end in sight, this song reminds you to just keep holding on. This was one of his debut solo tracks, and honestly, it’s completely underrated. I see little attention for this song. Pair this lyric with an Instagram Story over a sunset or a nice walk outside in the morning. And listen to the song in full — it serves as a good reminder to keep holding on.

Perfect for: That Instagram story when you’re enjoying a nice sunrise walk. Bonus points if it’s foggy outside and the mist is about to clear.

“Cause I feel alive now I realize that the world outside is bigger than me.”

Bigger Than Me

When you’re in the thick of all the anxiety or self-doubt spiral, it’s helpful to remember that the world is big and open, and life doesn’t have to feel so small. As one of my favourite songs, it reminds us that we don’t have to take life so seriously.

“It’s written all over your face”

Written All Over Your Face

This one, although it’s about the misfortunes of a relationship and both parties are aware of the misfortunes, can also be interpreted as the new beginnings of a relationship. Or maybe you’re crushing on a new person and you want to express your feelings but don’t know the words — but your face says it all.

Perfect for: That soft launch. You’re getting to know a friend as more than a friend. You’re in the new, early stages of a relationship.

“Wastin’ my time when it was always you”

Always You

This is just for that person who you feel like you’re destined to be with. You keep dancing around it, maybe dating other people, but at the end of the day, it’s always going to be them.

Perfect for: Missing your person, whether they’re travelling or it’s a long-distance relationship.

“Don’t know where I’m driving, but we’re goin somewhere”

Sunflowers

This lyric is perfect for rolling the windows down, blasting your favorite tunes (like this song), and speeding down the interstate. With your friends, I might add.

Perfect for: That road trip photo – whether on your grid or Instagram Story.

“You kill my mind, raise my body back to life”

Kill My Mind

This song explores the fun and silliness of your youth, like the experimental phases and doing things that might not be good for you. But they’re exciting! It’s a fun song. Pair this lyric with a photo of getting into crazy weekend shenanigans with your bestie.

Perfect for: The weekend photo dump, particularly an exciting night out with your friends. You know the ones, the ones where the photos are blurry and everyone’s grinning from ear to ear.

“We were lucky once, I could be lucky again”

Lucky Again

This song is all about the ending of a relationship. Or closing a chapter of one’s life. Have you ever felt that awkwardness when trying to move forward once something ends? Turning the page can feel daunting.

Perfect for: When a relationship ends, and you post a sunset picture on a hike.

“Tattooed on my heart are the words of your favourite song.”

Two of Us

This song is one of his most vulnerable songs because he’s talking about processing his mother’s death. It’s something he’s been incredibly private about, but this song is his way of opening up. If you’re someone who has experienced grief, whether recent or way in the past, turning this song on may be hard. This particular lyric could serve as a reminder that we will always hold the memories of those we lost with us. It reminds us that music can be an incredible tool in the grief process.

Perfect for: A grief post, perhaps a memory of a loved one.

“This is not the end / We can make it, you know it.”

History

As a Directioner, I couldn’t not include one of their most iconic songs. This was co-written by Wayne Hector, John Ryan, Ed Drewett, Julian Brunetta, Liam Payne, and Louis Tomlinson. It’s a song of reflection over all the good times you once had with friends or family. It’s a promise that this isn’t the end of something, but only the start of something new.

Perfect for: Graduation photo dumps with your friends.

Louis Tomlinson is a great songwriter. Truly underrated. Whether you’re looking for lyrics about mental health, grief, new relationships coming together, or old relationships falling apart, you can be inspired by his lyrics for your next social media photo dump.
