Taylor Swift Announces 12th Studio Album, The Life of a Showgirl

Taylor Swift has announced her 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl, after a classic Swiftian rollout of cryptic posts, a glittering countdown and a nod to her NFL-star boyfriend, Travis Kelce.
The reveal landed at exactly 12.12am ET on 12 August, when Swift’s website transformed into a shimmering orange hub with a ticking clock that had fans glued to their screens. At the stroke of midnight, the site briefly crashed under the weight of demand, before reappearing with scant details about the new record.
Earlier that night, Taylor Nation – the singer’s in-house marketing machine – fanned speculation by posting a carousel of 12 images from the Eras Tour, captioned: “Thinking about when she said ‘See you next era … ’” Naturally, Swifties began dissecting every frame for hidden meaning.
It was also revealed that Swift will guest on Kelce’s New Heights podcast this Wednesday. The show later dropped a teaser clip featuring Swift dramatically opening a briefcase and pulling out a blurred vinyl. “This is my brand new album, The Life of a Showgirl,” she declared, while Kelce’s brother and co-host Jason screamed in disbelief.
The 35-year-old remains one of the world’s most dominant music figures. She has sold an estimated 200 million records globally, holds the record for the most No. 1 albums in US history by a female artist, and continues to smash records with her Eras Tour – the first tour in history to gross over $1 billion, with 2.4 million tickets sold in a single day. Across 21 months, the run pulled in more than $2 billion, with Forbes estimating she personally earned $10–13 million a night.
With the announcement of this new album, Swift is once again in full control of the spectacle. The Life of a Showgirl is due for release on October 3, 2025 via Republic Records.
