Wallows Put on a Breathtaking and Ethereal Performance in Nebraska

Last Thursday night, the alt-rock trio Wallows took to the stage at The Astro in La Vista, Nebraska, with a memorable performance as part of their Model & More Tour. The sold-out show opened with the band’s infamous curtain drop and fans shouted the opening words to Do Not Wait, setting the pace for the rest of the show that was to come.

The trio’s performance came just under a month from their latest release, Your New Favorite Song. Many fans in the audience were able to experience the track live for the first time, in addition to a setlist filled with fan-favourites and some of the group’s earliest hits.

From the first song to the last, the energy in the venue did not disappoint as fans danced, sang, and screamed the lyrics. The beat of the drum and electricity of the guitars pulsed throughout the room and light beams shone past the band members into the crowd, matching the ethereal atmosphere.

Mid-show, for a change of pace, lead guitarist and vocalist, Braeden Lemasters made his way through the crowd during the song Going Under, and fans reached out for the chance to interact with the singer. But this was only the start of a memorable night, with a harmonica solo by Dylan Minnette, his feature on the drums and a guitar battle that ended with a broken guitar string for Cole Preston.

Wallows led the performance, but the crowd’s energy was what set the night apart. Many fans waited outside of the venue, awaiting the show. For many attendees at the show, the Wallows are an inspiration, whether it be in terms of music, meeting friends or a way of life.

For one fan, the show on Thursday was a highlight of the performances she had seen from the band so far. Erin Knox (@washboardsunset) described the show’s energy as incredible, this being her sixth time seeing Wallows perform live.

“I was in the front row for the show. I attended their Bowery ONO yet the experience in Omaha was like no other,” Knox said. “I made friends with everyone around me and felt so supported and loved in that pit.”

The night was truly unforgettable and ended with fans cheering as loud as they could as the band left the stage. The fans’ high energy fuelled the band’s performance, inspiring a last minute set-list change. After coming back for an encore, Minnette spoke to the crowd.

“We changed the last song we were going to play because you guys have been such a wonderful audience. We felt like this would suit the mood better tonight because you guys are actually giving us some energy and we love it… this wasn’t planned, we’re just going to do it— bear with us. We’ll see you next time.”

Moments later, Minnette began singing “Hit me once again…”, the opening lyrics to the Wallows’ song, I’m Full.

For those who experienced the Wallows live in Omaha, it was a night worth the travel, waiting in long lines, and dancing in the packed sweaty crowd. Fans became part of something bigger than just music—they found new friends, danced together, and celebrated their love for the Wallows and live music together.

Beyond the fans’ excitement, Wallows delivered an incredible set with a blend of their signature sound and the raw energy from the room. From the rehearsed set-list songs to improvised moments, the night was a testament to the band’s ability to put on a breathtaking performance.

With many more stops ahead, Wallows will finish out the North American leg of their tour in Los Angeles in late July before performing at multiple festivals in Europe in August and supporting My Chemical Romance on their stops in Los Angeles.
