Hone Your Craft ✍️
Fancy yourself as a wordsmith with a passion for pop culture?
About the role:
At That Fangirl Life, we’re all about embracing the true fangirl inside you! Whether you love BTS, Sabrina Carpenter, The 1975, or the latest Netflix series, there’s something on our platforms for you to connect with. Since late 2020, we’ve been bringing content to the online fan space through our podcast and social channels, and since 2021, this site has been our home for all things word!
We’re now looking to take on more contributors as we increase the volume of content we share on the site. From day one, all content on the site has been written by fans, for fans, and now, we’re looking for more contributors who are well-immersed in their fandom and keen to share their words of wisdom with others.
Regular content will include reviews, listicles, and essay-styled pieces about everything to do with fandoms and fan culture, but we’re always open to any suggestions you may have too! There may also be occasional opportunities to interview your favourite artists, stakeholders and industry professionals as you progress on your writing journey with us.
What we can offer you is…
- A place to practice your skills and receive useful, constructive feedback
- A network of new friends who have similar passions and interests to you
- References for future employers when the time does come to fly the TFGL nest
- A platform for you to start on your journalist journey – please don’t forget about us when you’re writing for the likes of NME!
Qualifications
- Strong written communication skills with great attention to detail
- You’re highly organised and a self-starter
- You have a pulse on fandom culture and a genuine interest in music, pop culture, and the communities that form around them
- You’ve got a background in writing, journalism, digital media, or community management
- Bonus points if you’ve contributed to That Fangirl Life or similar fan-led platforms before!
Why join us?
- Be part of a passionate, supportive team making space for unheard voices in fandom
- Have access to a network of over 150 contributors to help you grow, develop and hone your craft.
- Flexible, remote-first working that fits around your life and other commitments
- A chance to build experience in digital media and journalism
We understand that everyone leads busy lives. However, we will expect one contribution minimum from you each month.
Please note that this role is voluntary and therefore unpaid.
