Every Single Niall Horan Music Video: Ranked
Niall Horan has come a long way since his One Direction days, making a name for himself as a solo artist with a knack for creating memorable music videos. Each video, whether it’s the playful, Nice to Meet Ya, or the heartfelt, Put a Little Love on Me,” showcases his growth and creativity. With Niall currently on tour with his third album, The Show, this ranking allows us to step back in time and is a nostalgic nod to the beginning of his solo career.
So, how does our ranking compare to yours? Let’s dive in.
11. Our Song
Niall is no stranger to collaboration, having sung duets previously with Maren Morris and Julia Michaels. This time, it’s Anne-Marie who takes centre stage with Niall in Our Song. The music video is simply Anne-Marie and Niall stealing a load of expensive goods and then driving away in a vintage car with a trunk full. Then, they inevitably get caught and chased by the police. It’s a simple music video idea that has definitely been done before and doesn’t relate to the song, but the pair of them looked like they had a fun time shooting it!
10. Too Much To Ask
An underrated song with an underrated video! It’s a very straightforward music video that shows Niall in different settings. In one shot he’s alone singing, then on the underground, he’s in the pub laughing with friends (with a Guinness of course), then he’s playing guitar with his band, then he’s alone once more looking over the bright lights of London. It’s a great song and I think the music video is also good. It didn’t need to be super creative to be effective.
9. On The Loose
Shot in the sunny desert, this music video gives the look and feel of summer. On The Loose was a fan favourite song of Niall’s when it was first released and still is. The music video is centred around Niall and a love interest, making the song almost come alive even more as it’s easier to understand the lyrics with the visuals. It’s a fun music video with a relevant storyline.
9. No Judgement
No Judgement is such a cute song with such a lovely meaning behind it and the music video is no different. With an elderly couple as the stars of the music video, it defines what ‘no judgement’ really means. The couple do things that everyone else would judge them for but their partner does not, it is so sweet and delves into the meaning of the song. Niall wrote in the comments of this music video, “Let’s stop judging each other, life isn’t about that. Enjoy it and enjoy this video!”
7. Put a Little Love on Me
Similar to The Show’s music video, Put A Little Love On Me leans into Niall’s musical ability as a solo artist. As he plays the piano in the music video, there is a dancer in other shots subtly nodding to the lyrics “my shadow is dancing without you for the first time”. I think it’s such a gentle song and the music video coincides with it really well. It’s a fan favourite, with fans bringing signs to his current shows asking him to sing it, and there’s no doubt as to why. A classic.
6. Slow Hands
Although Slow Hands doesn’t have an official music video in the style of the rest, it is still pretty iconic. The video is in the style of a lyric video and was never given an official music video. It has quite a few clips of Niall in the studio, of him rehearsing and backstage before shows, and also clips of him while touring the world. It’s like he opened up his touring archive to share with everybody and that’s quite cool.
We get to see videos that we hadn’t seen before and I like to think that he wanted to share with us what his life on the road and making music is truly like. It’s also, to date, his most popular song.
5. The Show
The title track for Niall’s third album, The Show, just had to have an amazing accompanying video. This music video is so fitting to the song and I love it. It demonstrates Niall getting ready for his show, rehearsing in his dressing room and then getting dressed up. Then it shows him walking to the stage before the spotlight hits him on the piano. It’s so simple yet so clean and clear, I think this song and this music video go hand in hand perfectly.
4. Heartbreak Weather
This is arguably one of Niall’s most entertaining videos, with him acting as the alter-ego character, Niall Storm. Niall Storm was essentially just Niall dressed as a weatherman as a nod to the title track of the album. It was a great tactic. Niall Storm teased the music video before it came out and even gave a brief description of each track from Heartbreak Weather. Niall kept the fans engaged while in character and it was a hilarious way to promote the album and the song itself.
3. Nice to Meet Ya
Another era starter! Nice To Meet Ya was released back in 2019 as the lead single from Niall’s second album Heartbreak Weather. As well as being a total bop, the video is fantastic and has earned its place to be in the top three. The music video starts with a girl leaving Niall’s house the morning after a night out. Then the music video proceeds to take you through the sequence of Niall getting ready for the night out, then going to the bar and meeting the girl. It’s very cleverly done so definitely deserves to be in the third spot.
2. Heaven
Heaven has to be ranked at number two as this was the start of The Show era. The music video starts with Niall playing his guitar, alongside a drummer, before Niall strums away for a dancing crowd. I love the part with the crowd as it’s just what being at a Niall concert is like, full of energy and people having a great time. However, my favourite part has got to be at the end where he finishes the song on his own with an aesthetically pleasing background. The whole vibe of this video sums up The Show perfectly!
1. This Town
Coming in at number one, we have ‘This Town’. Personally being a massive Niall solo stan, I think this speaks for itself as to why it’s at number one. It was our first glimpse of Niall as a solo artist and it really showcases his raw talent. The song also pays homage to his hometown of Mullingar and is almost like an open love letter. He always talks so fondly of Ireland and is so proud of where he is from, and that comes across in this song. The music video proves that all Niall needs is a mic and a guitar, it’s beautiful. It’s an incredibly special song and video for all solo Niall fans.
It’s crazy to think the One Direction boys have been solo for as long as they were together. But through that, we’ve had some pretty cool music videos from them all, especially from Niall!
