Madison Beer Transforms Vulnerability Into Pop Excellence With Locket

Madison Beer has just released her highly anticipated third album, locket, and it marks her most intimate, vulnerable pop era yet.
The 11-track album offers many elements that include heartbreak, vulnerability, and empowerment. One interesting take from this album is that each track is so different from one another, yet cohesive. With various tracks like yes baby, bad enough, make you mine, and angel wings, listeners can get a glimpse into many sides of her range as an artist– from electro-pop to heartfelt ballads, to emotional depth and vulnerability themes, to soft and sultry lyrics. Having a wide range is a great quality of an artist, as they are able to explore different methods in music to tell a story, which, in this case, strengthens the album even more.
During an iHeartRadio Album Preview party, fans tuning into the stream shared whether they thought the album had a more dreamy and emotional vibe to it or more of a bold and confident vibe to it. Beer says she believes it’s more of an even split, noting the aesthetics of the project are very dreamy, but the music itself is bold. She told the crowd that she “can’t wait” for fans to finally listen to the album and that she is “really proud” of the final product, calling it the “most me thing I’ve ever done.”
Beer also adds that making the record was a therapeutic experience for her and that writing this album was very healing for her. In addition, it feels honest, vulnerable and feels like her.
One standout quality of Beer’s album, locket, is how personal it feels. Although this album is full of range of its melodies in the songs, it’s the lyrics that truly matter. Many of her fans can relate to this album because, like Beer, they are young, twenty-something-year-olds, navigating life through heartbreak, self-discovery, and empowerment. On uplifting, electro-pop tracks like yes baby, and make you mine, listeners can embrace their confidence and empowerment.
Throughout the album overall, fans are able to relate to her lyrics, which creates a deeper and more intimate connection between Beer and her listeners.
And the vocals? Beer’s range is impressive as she shifts from delivering soft and intimate moments to a bold and jaw-dropping performance, as we see in her songs bittersweet, and bad enough. Her voice allows her to convey a story and bring it to life, and you can truly hear and feel the passion and emotion in every note in each song on this album.
Some fans have even taken note how some songs on the album give off a similar vibe to the album eternal sunshine by Ariana Grande. Both records feature emotional and dreamy tones whilst exploring themes of heartbreak and vulnerability through their lyrics. Despite these similarities, both albums remain vastly distinct from one another because of how Grande and Beer share their own personal experiences and tell their own stories through their music.
Overall, the locket album represents growth and evolution in Madison Beer’s career. Compared to her earlier works (which of course are also great), this album feels very mature and more in-depth. Beer has done a great job at captivating raw emotions for this album. She also seems very confident in this new era, whilst sharing her experiences in life with her listeners. The album’s main focus on vulnerability highlights Beer’s ability to transform her personal experiences into pop excellence.
In an interview with PAPER, she dishes that it’s a big deal for her to feel freed from the shackles of pressure and comparisons (in the sense of trying to impress when it comes to music). “I want to make music I’m proud of and perform it for people who fuck with it. Take it or leave it, honey.”
And that’s what it should be all about.
After being discovered by Justin Bieber in 2012, Madison Beer quickly became a rising star in the music industry and has been successful in her career as an artist. Receiving two GRAMMY nominations, Best Immersive Album for Silence Between Songs, and Best Dance Pop Recording for Make You Mine, showcases her growth and recognition as a pop artist.
If you are a Madison Beer fan, now is the time to plan ahead and catch her on her 2026 tour!
