This Is The Soundtrack To My Life: Charlotte Noblecourt

For fans, music is often where our emotional connection to an artist begins.
That first 30-second snippet you catch on the radio piques your interest and sparks a frantic Google search for the handful of lyrics you can remember.
Music connects us to our past, enhances our present, and even helps us envision our future. Like a trusted friend, it accompanies us through the highs and lows of life, making each day feel like it has a rhythm of its own. Whether it’s the dancefloor-filling hits that accompany our celebrations or the gutwrenching ballads that help us navigate heartbreak, each song becomes a marker in time, forever linked to a moment, a feeling, or a memory.
In our latest web series, we’re asking fans to share the soundtracks to their lives. This month’s soundtrack comes from our very own TikTok Content Creator, Charlotte Noblecourt.
The first album you bought
+ by Ed Sheeran,
This definitely wasn’t the first album I bought as I was 14 at the time of its release, but this is the first one I can remember buying. Like most people, I discovered Ed with his first single, The A Team, and became obsessed with his work when I bought his first album, +. I remember playing it on repeat for weeks in my childhood bedroom. Since then, he has been in my top 3 favourite artists and to be honest, has never left. This album is the perfect autumn album in my mind, with songs like Kiss Me or Give Me Love wrapping you in a warm blanket. I also love when Ed raps and his song, You Need Me, I Don’t Need You, is one of my faves to hear live at his concerts.
Your first concert
Maroon 5, Overexposed Tour
I went to my first concert when I was 5 but I won’t be talking about that one because from the age of 5 to 17, being French, I only saw French artists live. Don’t get me wrong, they were incredible concerts, and I will cherish those moments forever, but today I want to talk about my first international gig because what an experience it was!
Maroon 5’s Overexposed Tour is what I consider my first “real” concert. Back in 2014, my Mother wanted to celebrate her 50th birthday in London and decided to get us tickets to see Maroon 5 live at the O2 Arena. With Adam Levine being one of my celebrity crushes at that time, I was over the moon when she told me. Even though it was a decade ago, I still remember that show and the feeling it brought me at the time.
Going to an arena this big, in a different country, was something I never thought would be possible back then. I honestly think that this concert was a core memory for me and it’s the reason why I now go to so many concerts and travel around Europe to see my favourite artists live. That concert made me who I am today, and every time Maroon 5 put on a show in Paris, I have to go see them to relive that teenage memory.
The first song you remember hearing
Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! (A Man After Midnight) by ABBA
One thing I remember very well from my childhood was my Mum’s ABBA best-of album, and I remember listening to it on repeat on our CD player. From the first time I listened to it, Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! has always been my favourite ABBA song. The energy that song radiates is insane and to this day it’s still one of my favourite songs of all time. Put it on at a party and I will take over the dancefloor!
Most influential song of your life
Fine Line by Harry Styles
This one is a no-brainer. I remember the night Harry released the album, Fine Line, like it was yesterday – even though it’s been more than 5 years now. I listened to the whole album laying on the floor in the dark at midnight in complete awe. And then, the last song of the album came on – the title track. I don’t usually remember first listens but that one was so special.
Since that moment, Fine Line has been my favourite song ever (I even have a tattoo of some of the lyrics). Through all the good and all the bad, this song has been here for me in ways I can’t even properly explain. Since day one, all I dreamt of was to hear it live, and I actually did multiple times during the 2023 European leg of Love On Tour. What an out-of-body experience.
A song you’re loving right now
undressed by sombr
I discovered sombr randomly on Spotify back in October and I’ve been listening to him a lot more since January. I am currently obsessed with his song, undressed, and I’m really looking forward to discovering more of his songs.
A song to describe your teenage years
One Thing by One Direction
When I think of my teenage years, the first thing that comes to my mind is One Direction. I discovered them for the first time with their song, One Thing, and ever since, my life has never been the same. They were the first artists I’ve been a fangirl of and 13 years later I’m still here, following their solo careers.
A song that makes me cry
The View Between Villages (Extended) by Noah Kahan
Many Noah Kahan songs make me want to cry but The View Between Villages takes the win, especially the extended version. The combination of the melody and the lyrics makes this song so nostalgic to me. Having left my hometown to go live in Paris, I relate to many of Noah’s songs and this one particularly, he describes really well that feeling when you come home expecting everything to have stayed the same but discovering that time there is also moving, making you feel conflicted about your decision to leave.
A song that you love that people won’t expect
Jour Meilleur by Orelsan
Being known as a pop girlie, I don’t think people would assume I listen to the French rapper, Orelsan. Truth is, rap, especially French rap, has never been a style I’ve been drawn to. One of my best friends kept telling me to give Orelsan a chance and to listen to his work. At first, I was not convinced but the more I listened to him, the more I appreciated his lyrics and style. Jour Meilleur is my favourite song of his because it’s not too “rappy” and the lyrics really resonate with me.
A song that feels like fandom
Treat People With Kindness by Harry Styles
When I hear this song, all I can think of is doing the conga line at Love On Tour with friends, but also with people I’ve never met before. For me, Love On Tour is the definition of fandom and being a fangirl, and if I had to choose one song it would be Treat People With Kindness. There’s nothing like being in a stadium full of Harries wearing their best clothes, singing and dancing like no one’s watching. This song feels like a party to celebrate not only Harries, but every fangirl in the world too.
