Top 10 Best Christmas Music Videos
We have narrowed down the best Christmas music videos out there. Each video is filled with festive fun to get you excited for the holidays.
To say it was hard to narrow down the top ten music videos is quite an understatement, as a huge Christmas lover it really was a challenge. While reading this list, why not stick on some festive favourites and get yourself in the Christmas mood!
10. Santa Tell Me – Ariana Grande
Starting off the list with a 2010s Christmas classic. Ariana Grande was releasing hit after hit during this era and this song was no different. The music video gives an insight into what looks to be the most fun Christmas sleepover ever. The accessories and the outfits were so perfect for that era and still both the song and video never get old.
9. Fairytale of New York – The Pogues and Kirsty MacColl
Now this is quite a basic music video, but it is one that can’t be skipped. With the band and singers all on one stage singing the ever so catchy Christmas song and a bit of acting in between, it does make the video iconic.
8. Underneath The Tree – Kelly Clarkson
Another modern classic from the last ten years, Kelly Clarkson’s music video proves an extravagant Christmas production is timeless. The music video showcases Kelly’s performance of the song, with some behind the scenes shots of her and her team.
7. Christmas Lights – Coldplay
This may be one of my favourite Christmas songs of recent times and I just love the accompanying music video. The set up of Coldplay on the small stage together is so cosy and the video is filled with hints of nostalgia.
6. Merry Christmas Everyone – Shakin Stevens
Being released in the mid-1980s this song and music video have got a warm fuzzy feeling about them. The music video is set in a fictional place called ‘Santaworld’ and it just looks so joyous and fun.
5. I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday – Wizzard
This is another Christmas music video that makes you feel incredibly nostalgic. With all the glitter, the outfits and the excitement, it really does start to feel like Christmas when you watch Wizzard and the children playing in the band. It is a music video that, no matter how many years on from it being released, will always be treasured.
4. Mistletoe – Justin Bieber
Even though this song and video is now 13 years old (as if by the way!), it also will never get old. The music video is reminiscent of a cheesy Hallmark Christmas film and has everything you could wish for. Justin Bieber dating a girl in a cute town completely decorated with Christmas lights everywhere? Tick, tick and tick!
3. Do They Know It’s Christmas? – Band Aid
Think of all the most iconic musicians from the 80s, then think of them all in the same room recording a Christmas song and you get… Band Aid. What a song and what a video! All those famous faces singing along together in one room is amazing to admire each year.
2. All I Want For Christmas Is You – Mariah Carey
Every year when Mariah Carey announces that she is ‘defrosting’ you know that Christmas is only around the corner. It is one of the most traditional Christmas music videos showing Carey doing all the typical things such as decorating a tree and playing in the snow. It is relatable, terribly nostalgic and cosy all at the same time. It’s a perfect music video from the Queen of Christmas herself.
1. Last Christmas – WHAM!
The number one spot has gone to WHAM!’s music video for Last Christmas. Like all the other listed music videos, this one is also jam-packed full of fun, nostalgia and friendship. But there is also a story hiding behind it that links perfectly to the song, earning its place as number one. The plot of the video suggests George Michael dated the girl in the video and this year they’ve returned to where they celebrated last Christmas together but she is now dating Andrew Ridgeley, the other member of WHAM!, and Michael is singing about how she broke his heart. It is very cleverly done and has every element that you’d expect of a Christmas music video.
Now we’ve curated our list of the top ten Christmas music videos, what would your top ten look like?
