Now summer is here, we finally have the chance to bring back picnics, parties and road trips – and you can’t do any of that without a good soundtrack. But, as much as we do like listening to Dancing Queen on repeat, we need some new music to get us going too. Luckily for you, we’ve picked 5 incredible new artists for you to know about right now.
Influenced by the likes of Lorde and Phoebe Bridgers, Holly Humberstone is taking the world by storm. Not only has she supported Lewis Capaldi on tour and had her music shared by Niall Horan, but after the success of her debut single ‘Deep End’ last year (which racked up a whopping 1.6 million views), the 20-year-old brit has now gone on to sell out her very first headline show! She was also one of the first artists to have a Fundraising Pick on Spotify, choosing to support the mental health charity Mind. Keep an eye out for her latest EP, Emotional Grim Reaper, later this year!
What sort of ‘5 artists who you need to know about’ list would this be if we didn’t mention Maisie Peters?! The 21-year-old pop sensation has been blowing up all over TikTok and has even been signed by Ed Sheeran! Not only has she been signed to his record label, Gingerbread Records, they even wrote a song together for her upcoming album ‘You Signed Up For This’, due to be released at the end of next month. Not only has her music been streamed half a billion times worldwide, but she’s also drawn in a rather famous fanbase – with artists such as Taylor Swift singing her praises!
Another Taylor Swift favourite, Griff is paving her way as an icon in the music industry. From a top 20 hit to winning the ‘rising star’ Brit award to being chosen to sing for a Disney Christmas ad – we don’t even know where to start talking about her success. It’s hard to believe that Griff’s very first single was only released in 2019, she’s been climbing the ladder of success ever since. Plus, not only is the 20-year-old sensation a fantastic singer, but she’s also an amazing songwriter and producer – having written and produced the majority of tracks on her debut mixtape ‘One Foot in Front of the Other’. We can’t wait to see what she does next!
By far the youngest singer on our list, the 17-year-old hitmaker (who’s been writing songs since she was 8) is definitely one to keep your eye on. Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you would’ve heard her viral hit Backyard Boy making the rounds around TikTok last year – (it’s still stuck in our heads now). Following on from her newfound success, Claire released her second EP ‘6 Of A Billion’ a little over a week ago. Want to catch the queen of gen z live? Tickets for her November tour are on sale now! Trust us, you wouldn’t want to miss it.
Rounding off our 5 artists who you need to know about is Remi Wolf. Though she’s clearly full of talent, Remi Wolf is one of those artists that surprises you when they hit the mainstream. Pop? Funk? Soul? The singer describes her innovative approach to music as being “soup” and genreless. In other words, she’s someone your parents just wouldn’t get – not when they see her videos anyway, which are a wondrous kaleidoscope of creativity. The rising star’s latest EP ‘We Love Dogs!’ is a funky remix of her first two critically acclaimed EPs ‘You’re a Dog!’ and ‘I’m Allergic To Dogs!’ and features appearances from the likes of Nile Rogers, Dominic Fike and Hot Chip. Admittedly, these (and the many other artists that feature) have been some of her favourite acts for a while – ever since she was a teenager! Even without the celeb cameos, it’s clear to see just why the breakout star reached a brag-worthy 10 billion views on TikTok The team here at That Fangirl Life is so excited to see where she ventures next!
Honestly, we can’t even count how many exciting new artists there are out there – but these 5 are a great place to start. So, grab your dancing shoes and hit download, your summer starts here.
Thank you, fellow fangirl!
