So far this year, Dua Lipa has released Future Nostalgia (The Moonlight Edition), a new rendition of her previous album, featuring four new tracks – “We’re Good,” “If It Ain’t Me,” “That Kind of Woman,” and “Not My Problem” featuring J.I.D. Including hits we have heard before, “Fever” featuring Angèle, “Prisoner” with Miley Cyrus, “Levitating” featuring DaBaby, and “Un Día” with J Balvin, Bad Bunny, and Tainy.
The Albanian-British artist also dropped a Titanic-themed music video for “We’re Good”, sparing no investment, betting on a video full of luxurious visuals and incredible effects.
Style-wise, The Moonlight Edition cover shows the 25-year-old in a Parnell Mooney Lycra Body and Roger Vivier Pointy Strass Buckle Boots. It’s safe to say that Dua is never one to shy away from making statements with her fashion choices both on and off the stage that everyone lusts over; from her Ginger Spice nod at this year’s BRITs to her colourful street style. It’s no wonder Dua is inspiring fellow fashion lovers with their own styling choices.
We’ve compiled 5 of our favourite fashion lessons to learn from the artist that you can take with you everyday.
During a Snapchat Q&A, Dua was asked about where she gets her fashion inspiration from to which she replied: “I love trying lots of different colours, I love trying on lots of different styles. It just kind of really depends on the mood.” The key is trying. Don’t be afraid to be yourself, let your outfit represent your mood, and have fun dressing up. Don’t forget to mix textures, colours, patterns, shapes, and layers – or not, it’s all up to you. Fashion is a way to truly express yourself, so go crazy.
Defining your style type can be quite the challenge. So why do people choose to do this? From Marc Jacobs to Valentino, just like the hitmaker, you can decide which style you are going to have for the day. Fashion is all about self-expression.
There’s no secret the star has a thing for nostalgia and she’s not the only one! Her style, in addition to her music, has proved to us so many times she’s inspired by her childhood.
Reinterpretations are a must! In an interview for MTV, Lipa chose 5 things that make her feel nostalgic: “Cry Me a River” by Justin Timberlake, Tamagotchi, ring pops, light-up trainers, and The Powerpuff Girls. Anything can be a reason to be inspired, not only fashion trends.
As nowadays we have a variety of stylish options, sunglasses are here to add extra appeal to your everyday closet. Whether you prefer timeless shapes or oversized shades, they’ll help you to make a statement and upgrade your overall look. Lipa’s eyewear game is on point and we will never forget her Dior Sunglasses from “New Rules” music video.
There’s no doubt that kitsch colour is a recurring theme in Dua’s wardrobe. You can do it like her and use the streets as your catwalk! With the pandemic, our options are so limited but don’t be shy to dress up to buy groceries, for example. This will probably light up your day.
You may have noticed Dua is having a major fashion moment. With her effortlessly cool sense of style and while now her stylist Lorenzo Posocco by her side, her style journey will keep surprising us and keep bringing new rules to the fashion world.
